Love reigns eternal. - Karl Parcher

  • 67 years old
  • Born on May 31, 1957 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States
  • Passed away on April 12, 2025 in Austin, Texas, United States

Karl Douglas Parcher, 67, of Austin, TX went to be with his Lord on April 12, 2025 – the end of a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

Karl was born in Pennsylvania May 31, 1957 to Lloyd & Lorraine Parcher, with older siblings David and Connie. As a child, he lived in the Philippines and Georgia before landing in Texas (Waco and Austin), graduating from Crockett High School in Austin in 1978.

Karl worked in numerous industries over the years – food service, photography, durable medical equipment, classic car restoration, retail, and federal service. His last decade was spent as a federal employee where he worked with a wonderful team who offered great support and encouragement during his illness.

Karl frequently shared his love for music, hiking, and dad jokes with everyone who would listen. Over the years, he took many friends and coworkers on hikes and frequently introduced his younger coworkers to older music, always personalized based on their current tastes. His favorite jokes were the longest corny dad jokes, where just about the time you thought there couldn't be a point, he'd deliver the punch line that would make you laugh out loud, almost every time.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents and many others he loved. Among those who survive him are his daughter Britney, ex-wife and dear friend of over 50 years Lisa, in-laws June & Phil, and grandson Carsten.

Karl’s last weeks were spent surrounded by friends and family in the care of the phenomenal staff at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House. While there, he received over twenty visitors, with Lisa and Britney staying present around the clock. When he passed, both Britney and Lisa were holding his hands. We are so grateful for the the wonderful care he received while there and the support provided to us.

Memorial Brick at Christopher House:
The staff at Hospice Austin's Christopher House took exceptional care of Karl during his final days. On a walk around the grounds, he noticed the engraved bricks in the walkway around the campus and asked to have one made for him with the text "Love reigns eternal". The mural outside of one of his rooms brought him a lot of joy, so the brick will be placed near the mural.
